Szczyrk is a fantastic place for cycling enthusiasts. Both extreme riders and fans of longer and shorter bike trips in beautiful surroundings will find their place here. There are many high peaks with significant elevation gain around the town, making it a proposal for trained mountain bikers. You have access to numerous mountain bike trails, for instance, you can ride to Skrzyczne via Hala Skrzyczeńska - approx. 10 km; Na Beskid via Migdały – approx. 5 km, Na Bieniadkę via Górkę - approx. 5 km, Na Magura PTTK shelter “Klimczok” – approx. 6 km, Around Skalite via Siodło pod Skalitem – approx. 8 km. Besides enduro trails and demanding mountain routes, you can ride along the Żylica River. The path starts next to the Town Hall in Szczyrk, then runs along the promenade in Szczyrk, transitioning into a bike pedestrian path through the towns of Buczkowice and Rybarzowice. The route is paved with a new surface, benches, playgrounds, and partially lit. Bikes (e-bikes – electric bikes!) can be rented at several rental shops in Szczyrk. After a short training session, you can set off on your journey and admire the beautiful views! Where to start your cycling adventure in Szczyrk? For your first trips, fire roads are the best choice; they are wide, relatively flat, and will always lead you somewhere. Other towns – Wilkowice, Wisła, Ustroń – are also located nearby, from where you can set out on other trails.
For your first e-bike trip, we recommend a tour towards Klimczok from Szczyrk Biła with an entry to Klimczok or just riding through the mountains.
We start:
1. Get to the last stop in Biła, from where we head to the “plate” road behind the stop - meaning that while driving on Górska Street from the center of Szczyrk at the roundabout with the stop, we turn right.
2. Then, keeping “straight” on this road, we will almost circumnavigate Klimczok and reach Bystra near the Magnus hotel, formerly Golden Tulip. We can turn back or ride through Bystrą, Meszną, Buczkowice back to Szczyrk along the bike path: along the way, you will enter the marked red path to Szczyrk.
This route will calmly take about 2.5 to 3 hours.
3. Upon reaching Klimczok, you can relax at the PTTK shelter “Klimczok” and enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding area. You can also choose to return the same way or take advantage of other options to return to Szczyrk - for example, along beautiful forest paths.
If you have enough strength to visit Klimczok, riding further uphill, you will enter quite a large square where there will be roads: straight ahead (this is the road you should choose for the variant described above - the fire road is the widest (we will return to it later), the road down: this does not interest us because we would return through Podmagura to Szczyrk, and the ascent to the left - steep but short, about 150-200 m, this ascent will take you to a trail intersection: continue along the trail, the easiest way is to take the green trail to Klimczok — it’s not far, so it’s worth it as you will see the truly most beautiful views of Szczyrk, Skrzyczne, Babią Górę, and on a good day, you can also see the Tatra Mountains.
Every time you return from such a cycling trip, you will feel immense satisfaction and fulfillment. Szczyrk is a place that will certainly delight any cycling enthusiast. Throughout the year, whether in winter or summer, this area offers plenty of opportunities for active recreation on a bike. So don’t hesitate, get on your bike, and discover the charms of Szczyrk!
