Błatnia is an unconventional yet charming destination for a hiking trip from Szczyrk. Although there is no well-marked trail leading from the center of Szczyrk to Błatnia, it is undoubtedly an attractive hike. The entire route takes about 5 hours, with 2 hours walking from Szczyrk to Błatnia, spending an hour at Błatnia, and returning for 2 hours.
Here is the description of the route:
The easiest way to start the hike is in Szczyrk at Biła, where you can leave your car in one of the parking lots around the Beskid Sport Arena. From the parking lot, we head towards Wuja Tom's Lodge, which we will reach in about 15 minutes. Above the Lodge, there is the Karkoszczonka Pass, which offers a beautiful view of the Biła valley and Skrzyczne. There is also an intersection of trails leading to Klimczok, the Salmopolska Pass, to Szczyrk, to Brenna, and... an unmarked path leading to Błatnia.
This path may not be completely unmarked, as there are signs of the Camino de Santiago in the form of shells and an "orange" skiing trail. Therefore, while heading towards Błatnia, we follow these signs.
After about an hour, counting from Biła, we will reach the yellow trail leading among others from Klimczok, right to Błatnia. Proceeding further, we will reach Błatnia; the trail is rocky in places, but since we are mostly on the summits, it is relatively flat, meaning a bit uphill, a bit downhill ;-)
At Błatnia, you will be welcomed by a large clearing, and slightly below, towards Brenna, there is the PTTK shelter, and after another 5 minutes towards Brenna, there is Ranch with delicious pork chops and potato pancakes.
You can return to Szczyrk in three ways: The first is to return the same way we came, The second: When returning, do not turn towards Karkoszczonka but go straight towards Klimczok and then descend from Klimczok to Szczyrk via one of the three trails. The third: In my opinion, this option is rather for cyclists: Descend the black or green trail to Brenna, then walk first along the riverside walking route and later along the road to the "mountain" to reach the trail to the Karkoszkonka Pass (to the left), and then further to Szczyrk.
This is a wonderful hike that allows you to enjoy beautiful views and nature!
